The Humble Beginnings Of The Bedok North Neighbourhood 3 since 1985...

The neighbourhood of Bedok North 3 serves the catholic residents of Blocks 111 to 140, bound by Bedok North Road and Bedok North Avenue 3.  Our neighbourhood group started when OLPS launched the New Image of the Parish project to bring parishioners into contact with each other in small communities where they live.

As the project matured we were ready to go one step further and the parish vision for our small christian communities was "from a crowd to a people of God".  The parish link was then introduced and our neighbourhood leaders went from house to house to distribute them and at the same time established contact with individual families to invite them to join in neighbourhood activities.

The total size of BNN3 in terms of parish census is close to 100 families.  However, in the early years we had only 6 active core members participating and representing the neighbourhood in any parish event.  Hence at times we had to join forces with other neighbourhood to participate in mutual events.

Our neighbourhood participated in parish fun fair, canteen, parish mission and all other parish activities as best we could.  After seeing many leaders moving out of the neighbourhood,  BNN3 had at one time ceased to exist due to lack of leaders coming forward to take on the responsibility of the neighbourhood.

However, through the grace of God we have today a vibrant community of leaders, youths and families coming forward to take BNN3 to the next level.  Our current neighbourhood strength is around 15 to 20 members actively participating in the activities of the neighbourhood and parish at large.

We organise home masses, organise spiritual talks, give support to families in bereavement at wake prayers, care & concern for the sick & needy families.

We serve at canteen duties, organise rosary devotions and participate in advent and lenten reflections at neighbourhood level.

Our vision is to continue our out-reach to all catholic families within the neighbourhood and ultimately to non catholics,  as well as continue to engage and recruit younger members who will be able to inject fresh ideas and rejuvenate the neighbourhood as a whole.
